The Dental Surgeon vacancy count specifically is listed in the advertisement PDF — refer to uppsc.up.nic.in for the exact, post-corrigenda number.
Selected candidates are appointed at Pay Level 10 (Group A), with a basic pay starting at ₹56,100 per month, plus DA, HRA, and other allowances as per UP Government rules.

The UPPSC Dental Medical Officer recruitment is the principal gateway for BDS graduates who want a permanent state-government posting in Uttar Pradesh. It is run by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission under the U.P. Medical & Health Services, and successful candidates are appointed as Dental Surgeon (Group A) at Community Health Centres, district hospitals, and dental units across the state on Pay Level 10.
Unlike the UPPSC PCS, this is a single-paper screening exam followed by a personality test — no Mains, no optional. The screening paper is heavily weighted towards clinical dentistry (120 of 150 marks), with a 30-mark General Studies section that mirrors the UP-flavoured GS seen in other UPPSC papers. Historical cycles (2018, 2023) suggest the dental section pulls from undergraduate BDS subjects with a noticeable lean on Oral Pathology, Public Health Dentistry, Pharmacology, and General Medicine relevant to dental practice, while the GS section tilts towards UP-specific geography, polity, and current affairs.
The 2025–26 cycle (notified 22 December 2025) is open as part of a broader 2,158-post UPPSC advertisement that also includes Allopathic / Ayurvedic / Unani / Homeopathic Medical Officers and Veterinary Officers. Aspirants should treat the official advertisement PDF on uppsc.up.nic.in as the single source of truth for vacancy count, reservation roster, and fee — third-party portals frequently lag on corrigenda.
